Prairie Whispers by Frances Arrington (0-399-23975-8)
I had been looking forward to this book, watching it get closer and closer as I worked through my bookpile. I liked the premise of a girl on the prairie rescuing a baby from a dying woman the same night that her mother gave birth to a stillborn child. She didn’t intend to lie, but everyone assumed that the other woman’s baby was actually her mother’s. Then the girl had to deal with the consequences when the dead woman’s husband returns.
I found the book slow moving, though I can admit that this was being used to build tension and to evoke the rhythm of life on the prairie. I wasn’t satisfied by the ending either, which I won’t give away here.
Please let me know if you think differently. Perhaps I can be persuaded to your point of view and will start recommending this book to teens, rather than just letting them find it on their own.

Waking Brain Cells 
I had to read prairie whispers for a school proj. and it sucked. i hated it. the ending was horrible and the plot was hard to follow and it didnt stay on track.

I thought the book was the same way!!! I’m like OK!!! OK!!! Get on with it. I have to do a booktalok on it for school…I’m bummed.

I liked it i had to do a report on it. It was really exciting. It was better then Tuck Everlasting. Tuck Everlasting was dumb really dumb. People who don’t like are weird.

I really enjoyed this book and thought it was exciting but i like Tuck Everlasting better. I thought it was more exciting.

I thought Prairie Whispers was a really good book. I have to do a 2 minute discussion on it for school. The reason I liked it so much is because at the end of the chapter I always wanted to find out what was going to happen next.

I thought the book was an awsome book. i liked it a lot and i don’t know how you can say tha it sucked becasue it did not and you are very wrong. The plot was exelencet. I can’t wait to do a book report on it.

I loved it. It was a great book. It was a book that was like, ok shes going to do it. But she didnt. Like you wanted to guess what was going to happen. I loved that i was close on guessing.What ev. Bitch!

I liked this book, it was really suspenful even though there were some parts that just seemed to drag on and on about one topic, i would highly recomend this book.

I HAVE NEVER READ A BOOK SO AWFUL IN MY LIFE I HATED IT AND WILL NEVER READ ANYTHING BY THIS AUTHOR AGAIN. COLLEN SWITCHED THE BABIES WOOPDY-DOO BIG DEAL. NEVER EVER READ THIS BOOK ITS AWFUL. ALSO ASHLEY DON’T SWEAR IN A COMMENT THATS SO IMMATURE AND STUPID.YA YOU THINK YOUR COOL WELL YOUR NOT AND GET OVER IT! SORRY THIS IS SO LONG BUT WHATEVER. I HATED THIS BOOK DON’T EVER READ IT.
