There are two children’s books series all about dragons heading for the big screen. Dreamworks will be releasing How to Train Your Dragon in 2009 and Universal has just purchased the rights to Dragonology.

Waking Brain Cells 
I met the -ology publishers at a (UK) Society of Authors talk last year and was really impressed by their work. Even though I’m a writer, my youngest nephew seemed (certainly at that time) very unkeen on reading – books were, if anything, a bit of a turnoff. I bought him Dragonology last Christmas and he’s not looked back. I’d recommend the series for anyone where the children aren’t grabbed by more conventional books.
And no I have absolutely no connection with them myself!
