Inkheart Trailer

You can take a look at the newly released Inkheart trailer here at Moviefone.  Comingsoon also offered links to it and quite a conversation erupted about originality and quality.  I’m not completely sold on the casting of the film.  People certainly don’t look the way I thought they would.

I also have some reservations about a book this literary and verbose being made into what looks like an action film.  Yes, there was plenty of action in the novel, but I remember the stillness in some passages, the tension, the waiting breathlessly.  And I don’t see that here.

How about you?  Are you looking forward to the film?

  1. It looks like that added a bit to it-not that it needed anyhting! However it might stand on its own as a fantasy film.

  2. I’m concerned since the last book adaptation I loved went so wrong (Golden Compass) but hopeful. Some of the casting is perfect–Helen Mirren as Aunt Elinor and Andy Serkis as Capricorn. Then again, I though Nicole Kidman was a perfect Mrs. Coulter and that didn’t save the film from being a mess. I remember Inkheart being, as you said, much more meditative than the trailer seems to show. I thought Inkspell was much more action packed and a movie version of the second book in the series might have looked more like this trailer. But maybe there are some nice calm moments between all the spectacle moments that are depicted in the trailer!
