Hunger Games Will Be FOUR Films

If Hunger Games is the success that Lionsgate predicts, fans will see four films from the trilogy of books.  Wowza!

It leaves me with lots of questions:

I wonder how it will be broken up.

I know the money will be bigger, but is it the right thing for the films themselves?

What questions and concerns do you have?  Or are you happy to see four films?

Hunger Games Casting Continues

Last week I completely missed the news that Lenny Kravitz has been cast to play Cinna in the upcoming Hunger Games film.   Talk about a guy with style!

The actor playing President Snow has also been announced and I’m very happy with the casting.  Donald Sutherland!  I am already rethinking the voice of Snow in my head.

So what do you think of the new cast members?

Alan Rickman’s Thank You for Harry Potter

I was truly moved by Alan Rickman’s letter of farewell to JK Rowling.  For me, the lifetime passing in minutes is so true as my youngest son turns 10 this week.

"I have just returned from the dubbing studio where I spoke into a microphone as Severus Snape for absolutely the last time. On the screen were some flashback shots of Daniel, Emma, and Rupert from ten years ago. They were 12. I have also recently returned from New York, and while I was there, I saw Daniel singing and dancing (brilliantly) on Broadway. A lifetime seems to have passed in minutes.

Three children have become adults since a phone call with Jo Rowling, containing one small clue, persuaded me that there was more to Snape than an unchanging costume, and that even though only three of the books were out at that time, she held the entire massive but delicate narrative in the surest of hands.

It is an ancient need to be told in stories. But the story needs a great storyteller. Thanks for all of it, Jo.

Alan Rickman"

First Image of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss

Entertainment Weekly’s cover story is Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, and man, I am very impressed.  Love the hair, the bow, the mockingjay pin, and especially that strong look in the eye:

Final Hunger Games Tributes Cast

2011-05-11_1544

Lionsgate has announced the final two tributes in the upcoming Hunger Games movie.  If you missed any, you can check out their Facebook page.  These final two are tributes who have a large role in the games, Cato and Clove.

Cato will be played by Alexander Ludwig who appeared in Race to Witch Mountain.  Clove will be played by Isabelle Fuhrman who appeared in Orphan.

Now we just have more adult casting to look forward to.

Judy Moody Movie Trailer

I hadn’t seen the trailer for Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer film that is due out on June 10, 2011.

It’s the first film based on the Judy Moody series that has sold 14 million copies in 23 languages.

So what do you think?  Looking forward to seeing it?  Or looking forward to being disappointed by it?

Woody Harrelson and Stanley Tucci in Hunger Games

The Hollywood Reporter has the news that Woody Harrelson has been cast as Haymitch in the upcoming movie adaptation of The Hunger Games.  The film is due out March 23, 2012.

Variety has the news that Stanley Tucci has been cast as Caesar Flickerman, the flamboyant host of the games.

Frankly, I think both are brilliant casting picks.  What do you think?

39 Clues : The Movie

Brett Ratner will be directing the live-action movie based on the popular 39 Clues series.  Steven Spielberg had been expected to direct back in 2008.  Ratner is the director of Rush Hour and X-Men: The Last Stand
