The Sea of Monsters–The Movie

It looks like Fox 2000 will be developing a sequel to the first Percy Jackson movie.

According to the LA Times, Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (writers of Ed Wood and Agent Cody Banks) will be writing the script.

No director has been linked to the film yet, but it is not expected to be Chris Columbus who directed the first film.

It will be interesting to see what happens with this franchise, since the first film was not a blockbuster of a movie.

Twilight + Harry Potter = Incarceron?

As reported earlier, Taylor Lautner, star of the Twilight movie franchise, has been cast as the lead in the film version of Incarceron.  Now there are reports that Emma Watson is the top pick for the female lead.

So what do you think?  I’m still having problems with Lautner as the male lead.  Watson on the other hand seems ideal.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower–The Movie

Cinematical has the news that The Perks of Being a Wallflower is going to finally be made into a feature film.  Summit Entertainment holds the rights to the book.  Author Stephen Chbosky will be writing and directing the film, which bodes well.

The cast includes Logan Lerman and Emma Watson.

Mr. Men–The Movie

Twentieth Century Fox Animation will be bringing Roger Hargreaves’ Mr. Men to the big screen.  There are 48 Mr. Men books in the series, which has been adapted for television before.  No writer or director has been announced yet for the project.

Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter for the news.

Beastly: The Movie

Saw a trailer for this on TV.  I’ll embed it here, but be aware that it is basically the entire story played out in trailer form.  Man, I so prefer teaser trailers!  Based on the novel by Alex Flinn, this film version comes out in March of this year and stars Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer.

So, fans of the novel, what do you think of this film version?

Incarceron–The Movie

I am a huge fan of Incarceron and its sequel, Sapphique.  Great dystopian fantasy novel.

So I was rather stunned to hear that Taylor Lautner has become attached to the movie project and cast as Finn.  OK, I admit I actually shouted aloud in dismay when I read that.

Fox 2000 is doing the adaptation of the book.  Now I wonder who will play the feisty and fabulous Claudia?  I don’t dare guess.

So what do you think?  Great casting choice or disaster?

And who should be cast as Claudia?

Maze Runner–The Movie

/Film has the news that Catherine Hardwicke is in talks to direct The Maze Runner.  Hardwicke is the  director of the first Twilight film.  James Dashner, author of the teen novel the movie will be based on, will write at least the first draft of the script.  (Hurrah!)
