It is confirmed on Slashfilm that Bill Condon will be directing the movie version of Breaking Dawn. He has directed Dreamgirls, Kinsey and Gods and Monsters.

According to Heat Vision, Angryfilms has optioned Cory Doctorow’s novel Little Brother. Doctorow is the also the co-editor of the very popular blog BoingBoing.
Well, I was amazingly skeptical about this film remake of Beezus and Ramona, but perhaps, just perhaps, just maybe, possibly there might be some hope. Maybe. At the very least, Disney knows how to put together a charmer of a trailer:

Martin Scorsese has started casting his fim version of The Invention of Hugo Cabret.
Adult stars may include Ben Kingsley and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Some first photos from Legend of the Guardians, the film version of Guardians of Ga’Hoole, have been released at USA Today. The film is based on the first three books in the lengthy series. The film will be released on September 24th, 2010.

According to Variety, Fox 2000 has purchased the film rights to Catherine Fisher’s series. John Palermo will produce the film. There was a bidding war for the series with at least two other studios competing for it.
I adored the book Incarceron and it does read very cinematically, so I can see it adapting with ease to the screen. What do you think?
According to /Film, the film adaptation of Tunnels will be directed by Vincenzo Natali, director of Cube and Splice.
Cinematical has the news that the principal stars of the Twilight movie franchise have been signed to do a fifth film. That was the major stumbling block in having Breaking Dawn broken into two films.
Summit films is also said to be looking for “high-end” directors to do the final movie.

/Film has the news that the film rights for Ally Carter’s Heist Society have been purchased by Warner Brothers. The book is due out next week, and I have to say the cover is rocking. Unfortunately, the teen novel’s characters will be aged to their 20s instead of remaining teen characters. Sad, because I would think it would make a better movie with teen protagonists rather than college-aged ones.
I look forward to reading the book which has been called a teen-aged Thomas Crown Affair.
