Stargirl – The Movie

Stargirl (Stargirl, #1)

Jerry Spinelli’s book Stargirl is in the works to be made into a film. Kristin Hahn has adapted the book to a screenplay. Catherine Hardwicke, director of Twilight, has signed on to direct.

“This is one of those stories and characters that stir your imagination and steal your heart and just stick with you forever. I am thrilled to have the chance to adapt this beloved novel and I can’t imagine anyone more uniquely equipped to bring this story to life than Catherine Hardwicke, a Stargirl in her own right,” Hahn said.

The Adventures of Beekle – The Movie

The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend

Deadline has announced that Caldecott-winning picture book, The Adventures of Beekle by Dan Santat, will be made into a full-length animated film.

Dreamworks will be the studio heading the project. The director will be Oscar-nominated Jason Reitman, well known for Juno and Up in the Air.  He will also be writing the screenplay.

Paper Towns – The Trailer

Wonderstruck – The Movie

EarlyWord has the news that Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick is being turned into a film. Celebrated director Todd Haynes is looking to direct and are looking at casting.

This would be the second of Selznick’s novels to be made into a film, following Hugo, based on Selznick’s The Invention of Hugo Cabret, which was directed by Martin Scorsese.

Deadline has the news that Warner Bros has won the film rights to Kiera Cass’ The Selection. The CW network has twice tried to launch a TV series based on the book, but they never went anywhere beyond pilots.
