Obama’s Children’s Book

President Obama will be releasing a children’s book on November 16th.  The book features 13 inspirational Americans including George Washington and Jackie Robinson.  Alfred A. Knopf will have a first printing of 500,000.  Any profits from the book for the President will be donated to a scholarship fund for children of fallen or disabled soldiers.

Author Stephanie Meyer has stopped her work on the next installment of the Twilight saga, Midnight Sun. 

According to an article in Digital Spy, she says she is “burnt out on vampires” and will take a break for awhile before completing the book, hoping that it will come more naturally with some time off.

Cassandra Clare’s Upcoming Novel

Entertainment Weekly’s Shelf Life blog has an exclusive first look at the cover for Cassandra Clare’s new novel, Clockwork Angel.  The book is the first in her new Infernal Devices trilogy and is due to be released on August 31, 2010. 

The new fantasy trilogy is set in Victorian England and again deals with an alternate reality filled with fantastical elements.  The trilogy will be tied with some characters to the Mortal Instruments series.

The fourth book in the Mortal Instruments series will be released next March.

Hilary Duff – Author?

Hilary Duff has signed a multi-book deal with Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. 

The first novel, Elixir, will be published in October of this year. 

There is also a nonfiction title in the deal which will be about divorce.  It is due to be published in 2012.

Once again we can hope that a celebrity can actually write.

John Grisham Turns Juvenile

Penguin Young Readers will be publishing a new series for children by John Grisham.  The series is entitled Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer and features a 13-year-old protagonist who is the son of two attorneys.  The new series is for ages 8-12.

This first book in the series is due out in June.

Grisham has a forthcoming legal thriller for adults due out in October.

Hunger Games Part III

Scholastic has revealed the title and cover of the final Hunger Games novel.  It is due to be released August 24, 2010.
