Toys”R”Us Reading Ready is an early education program that helps children, birth to age 5, with pre-literacy skills. Libraries that serve at risk children certainly qualify.

Parents As Teachers of Porter County, Inc. a 501c3 not for profit provides currently provides the preschool children of across our county (170 families) and especially parents to effectively teach and advocate for their children. this erly intervention project is designed to expand service to approximately 125 new families in the neediest areas of our county. Although we have just this January 2004 become a 501c3, we have been supported by the Eli Lilly Endowment since 2001. In three years we grew to provide program services to 165 additional families, from those of a single school corporation to providing services to all families interested or referred at no cost throughout the county. We wish to apply for funding as the PAT of Porter County, Inc. program meets your guideline by serving individual families with children from pregnancy through kindergarten entry using the nationally known “Born to Learn” brain researched curriculum from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. We are planning exciting additional services to those families we are currently serving and those we will serve should we be funded.
