I was just wondering where I could get Dragons Nest. I have looked EVERYWhERE but cant find it. I am about to read The Sister of The South and finish the Deltora series. I am very sad about this, because I LOVE these books. I am 29 yrs old and not usually interested in sci-fi/fantasy books. I would not have started this series if my 10 yr old son hadn’t insisted that I read them. From the first book I was hooked, and I can’t help but wonder why these books aren’t more popular. The library and schools here do not have them and have not heard of them. I have done my best to recommend them and rave about them to all the teachers, children, and adults that I know. I do hope that there is a fourth series. I would definately love to read it! The characters are so interesting and the storyline twists are absolutely thrilling. THANK YOU EMILY RODDA FOR SUCH A FANTASTIC SERIES!!!

Dear Emily. I loved Deltora Quest. It is one of the best series i read. I hope it becomes a movie. I would direct it if i could but i’m only 15. I read Rowan of Rin as well. It was not as good as Deltora but it was a good read. Love your books.

Hi! I am totally your #1 fan! No one could possibly like your books more than me, and I mean it! I have pretty much all of them; the only ones I need are #2 and 3 of Deltora Shadowlands and the Deltora Book of Monsters. I think it would be cool if you made the Deltora Annels and The Belt of Deltora! I LOVE those books! I’ve read all the ones I have about 9,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999 times! In fact, I love then so much that I’m telling the Four Sisters, Tenna Birdsong Tale for a project my class is doing. I also think it would be cool if you made some books about Endon and Jarred, plus Doran, as well as Jarred, Endon and Anna(Lief and Jasmine’s kids). And Patrick King can not know all the stones’ powers because the books don’t have info on the Lapis-Lazuli! I took notes on the books – stuff like maps, Annel papers, dragon names, and other stuff. Plus me and my friend Siena use the codes from the books ALL the time and I even started a Deltora fan club! I wish I could be like Jasmine and talk to trees and birds and have really good hearing and that kind of stuff. I think Doom/Jarreds past is vary interesting. Are there any good ols? Your books are so so so so so so so so so so interesting and intreaguing and great and the best and better than any books I’ve read! I loved the deltora books. They were awsome!!!!!!!!!! Um, if you are reading this, I have read up to the seventh of your Deltora Quest series, and I love it. I was told that next year, (When I enter high school) I should have an occupation in mind. I love writing stories, (fantasy and horror to be specific) and, seeing your books was a great inspiration for me. I currently am dealing with a writers block the size of California (so to speak) and was wondering if you could email me or something (khailias@yahoo.com) or post at http://www.nanowrimo.org (it stands for “National Novel Writing Month”) and help me, because I badly want to be a writer. And another thing, how do you write action and fighting? I try all the time, but I either make it too factual or too quick. In the 4th book, Shady Sands, you did awesome on the fighting with all of the people, and I really would like to learn how to do it.

My names is Sophie and i absolutely LOVE your books. Ive read the whole Deltora series tons of times and i still cant get enough of them. The mysterys and puzzles in the books are so well thought of and intriguing. I love the dragons in the last series. Ive been tring to work out how the names of the dragons fit the qualities of their gems. In latin Fidelis(the topaz dragon) means faith and loyalty and Forta(the diamond dragon)means bravery. But i cant figure out what Veritas(the amethyst dragon) means. I think you should make a book based on the little blue book in the story, ‘the belt of Deltora’.

Just a couple of questions for you though I’m sure you had some of these question before.
1.Will Deltora Quest ever make it to the big screen it would be fun if it did to watch how it happened instead of reading about it over and over again.
2.If so which company whould you want to make it? Also which actors whould you want to play characters in it? Hopefully if you do allow Deltora Quest to be made into a movie it would be as good as the books.
3.Has Deltora Quest ended or are you planning more sequels and if so would the same characters be in it or not and if they are I think that they should fight a new enemy that’s abroad meaning that they would have to travel across Deltora’s sea whether by dragon, magic or boat for whatever reason and accomplished it in a new magical land.

I think the Deltora books would make great movies,
but there are so many(which is a good thing)books it
is impossible to make them all real-live movies.
Perhaps the first and eighth books of Deltora Quest could be real-live, and books 2 – 7 be animated. Regarding the Shadowlands, the first two books could be animated and the last one could be real-live. Of the Deltora Dragons, the first three could be animated and the last one be real-live. These are just some helpful ideas. I’m 12 years old and I’ve really enjoyed the Deltora books a lot. Thank you!

I enjoy the mathematical puzzles that are scattered throughout your books, and I’ve encouraged my daughter (age 11) to solve each of them before the answer is revealed.
I’ve made practical use of the “Guardian of the Bridge” episode for my class in automata theory and formal languages. I begain to first read your books after one of my teachers in primary school read the first of the Delotra Quest books to us during class. The day that she read to us, was the day i was hooked. I went and hired out the book to read it by myslef, purely because i could not wait for the teacher to finish it, as it would take so long if she only read it a little but each day. Anyway, i loved it all and shortly after i had read all of the books. Believe it or not, i am now 15 years old, and still i love to just sit down and read the Deltora Quest books. The main reason for my comment is that i would LOVE for Deltora Quest to HIT THE BIG SCREENS!!! I cannot believe that a director hasnt wanted to do this yet. I loved all of your books, every single one! I have read them over and over again!!! If you don’t continue to the series farther than the four sisters, ( which i reall really hope you do!!!!) than i think like many others have said, you should make it into a movie!!! Or even a game!!!
I also think it would be cool if you made some books about Endon and Jarred, plus Doran, as well as Jarred, Endon and Anna(Lief and Jasmine’s kids). Maybe even make the some of the annels, an idea if you continue the series is a rivalry between a kids cause only one can be king/queen, also if you continue it you should bring up more about the pirra, lief jasmine and bardra should go vist them.

I have read some of your most popular books, The Rowan Series and Deltora Quests. When I was in year 3 I did not enjoy reading and struggled in English. After reading your books I am now writing my own book dedicated and inspired by you. I am now in year 5 and hope I can publish my book. I dream to be an author and you inspired this dream. I LOVE the Rowan of Rin books. I am currently re-reading Rowan and the keeper of the Crystal. It gives me shivers at the end when Rowan figures out about Doss getting caught by the Zebak. I think it would be a FANTASTIC movie if done well. If it was made really scary and the Zebak looked really scary and evil it would just be soooooooooooooooo good!!! If it was made well it could be up in the Lord of the Rings standard easily.

leading them into a trap. They went after him soon realising that he wasn’t
the heir, leif was, doom must have known, but he still let them continue
into the trap, why?. I’ll explain, Doom (Jarred) made plans with endon
(leif’s father), the plan that they were to swap names and homes. Which
meant jarred must have known the belt was with endon and his unborn child.
so when he saw leif he must have known he was the heir because how else
would he get the belt, he must have known leif was the heir from the
beginning?? if so why did he let them go into the trap???”

Heh, it seems that you have about 28 number-one fans, Mrs. Rodda. ^^ I’m twelve and I just finished the dragons series. My favorite parts were the puzzles, they were very well done. The only one I wouldn’t reread would be the Isle of the Dead… it was a bit creepy… *shudder* But they were amazing. I agree, I’d like to see what happened to Anna, Jarred and Endon, as well as maybe Jasmine’s life. I don’t know why these books aren’t more popular! By the way, I love the ending to the Sister of the South, it was very clever the way you repeated the words from the Belt of Deltora with Lief’s name. I actually didn’t get it, and thought it was the lamest ending ever until I went back to the first book, and then I realized, “Wow. That’s a great ending.” Hope to see more of the Deltora series! ^^

Hi, I am studying children’s Literature and was wondering what you thought about your female characters in The Forests of Silence, or lack of. Was this a deliberate choice to only have one main central female character? I have only read the first deltora quest series but i have heard that throughout the series Jasmine falls for Lief and succumms to the traditional roel of the female in litearture. I was just curious as to what you’re perspective is on Jasmin’s role in text, as heroic or heroine.

my name is Dillon and i am a big fan of your books. I have read every single deltora book ever made, and i own them all too. Anyways i would like to know if you are going to make another book after sister of the south, because the ending is a little wierd as it says “the enemy is defeated but not destroyed”. If you would i think it would be best if it was with lief barda and jasmine again, as they are the best characters i’ve ever read. And if there was a Deltora movie it would rule all movies!

Chapter 1
The Tragic
Myths and legends are a questionable thing. For once they may have been true but faded and disbelieved as time passed on. Not much is known of time and the answers about it are yet to be told, then again answers that are questionable are myths. So will all legends and myths fade? They will unless their memories and answers are not forgotten. This may all seem confusing, but soon you understand. So, let’s begin with the past, the time of answers.
In the forest of Elwynean a figure runs as though his life, his presence, his being was about to end. What is making him run? How powerful can something be to make the figure run? Why is the something doing what it does? The figure seems like it has no time for questions or answers. All it seems it can do is run.
Swiftly the figure seems to have fallen over something. Does that mean the something will get him? Will the shadow get him? Not at this moment because the figure picks himself up and keeps running. The figure has finally one moment to look behind. The shadow seems to be getting closer. All hope seems lost for the figure. The shadow was gaining, gaining, then for a split moment the shadow had pounced but it was too late. The figure made it out of the forest. Made it out of the darkness. Light had blown the shadow away. At least for now.
The Figure, Leond was now heading for the Great Gates of Vienden. Only to be greeted by a closed gate. On top stood two tall guards with extravagant armor yet still firm enough to withstand a hit from an arrow. Sturdy and subtle they stood, fulfilling their jobs as watchers of the city.
“Guards, lower your gate!” yelled Leond.
“Nye, the king has banned all visitors from the city,” replied one of the guards
“It is urgent! I need to speak to the king!” exclaimed Leond.
“No matter can be more important than the king’s orders,” again replied the guard with no change of emotion.
“The shadow has come…”
“Young fool, the shadow is just a myth told to children to scare them at night,” “Now be gone before you are beheaded for speaking such foolery!” exclaimed the guard, this time fiercely. Nothing could have been done; there was no chance of Leond getting in. All he could do was walk away.

I really love your books. Deltora quest I read in third grade and finished Sister of the South in fifth grade. When I knew that it was the last Deltora book, I cried! Anyway, everything you write is awesome. I especially love the Rowan of Rin quintet. I’m here to beg you to write a sixth volume; please! I have such fantastic adventures reading them. I consider them to be one of the best series I’ve ever read. And I’ve read a lot ( I mean it) of fantasy, so that’s really saying something! A friend recommended the Fairy Realm series. I cannot explain in words how much I loved Deltora quest. I have read every book ever made of them about 10 times each. You should really consider making a movie with them. Bit embarising to ask this question but if you do make a movie could I please play Jasmine in it? I am fairly good at acting and I’m skinny, dark haired and am 12 years old. If not PLEASE could you make another Deltora Quest book with more adventures of Leif Barda and Jasmine. I dont think I can servive without them. Like I said I can’t explain how much I loved the books. But let me tell you, if every kid on earth had the same mind and imagination as me, your book would be the best selling ever!!!!

I think i am your biggest fan. I don’t have a whole lot of reasons, but to me and in my world i am your biggest fan. I am a writer too i am writing a story called Maurada. Here it is well part of it.PLz can no one copy it.
Chapter 1
As the sun, set over the horizon, and the low, mournful howls of the Gulves silenced, Feras, the long since abandoned one, rode quickly toward the east border. Boundaries meant nothing to her, as she did not know the purpose of them. She knew that boundaries were made to keep wild things being tamed from escaping—but she was not one to be tamed. Feras grinned, as her wild black hair blew back, her green eyes flashing with happiness and she crossed the border towards Glendora, the magical city of the east. The grass here was lush, and fruits thrived everywhere. Tree limbs, were not twisted and ugly, like in the dry west, but elegant, and stretched to ward the sky.
Feras shouldn’t have been in the west. It was forbidden, to the Glendors, but since she was only half Glendoran, she thought it would not matter. After her parents were taken from her at the age of seven, she ran away from her mothers race—away from the short happy people, away from her home, and away from safeness. For no evil could dwell in Glendora for long. As she neared the golden city, the red jewel in her pocket glowed, and Feras gave a twisted cry, as her leg throbbed with pain. Taraza reared, as the jewels’ power spread through her body, and collapsed to the ground. Feras was flung through the air and hit the ground with a sickening thud, but she was used to pain such as that, and scrambled to her feet with a yell and pulled the gem from her pocket and threw it away from her.
Her strength vanishing, she crawled over to where Taraza lay.

Ms. Rowe, my daughter Sarah and I just love your books The Fairy Relm. Do you think you will write any more and if so when? I’ve bought everyone of them for her and have read them all. Jesse’s grandmother reminds me of my mother. Sarah says she could be Jesse because they are so close in age. Sarah would like to have an adventure like Jesse. Sarah is always out doors looking for insects and frogs, watching the birds and the other wildlife around our acreage in Nebraska. Please consider writing more of these books; it keeps her reading and that is a good thing. My mother always made sure I had plenty of books to read; as I have done for Sarah. Thank you!

Emily Rodda, I JUST LOVE IN BIG HUGE WRITING your book the key to rondo. it has so much action in it. it is superb and thrilling. i couldn’t stop reading it. it is so engrossing. my friend monique also says it is great. fabulous marvellous. there are so many words to describe it. but i was wondering emily if maybe you can turn this excellent book into a movie. that would be AWESOME. are you going to write like a trilogy for it. i would love to readd the next book

I have read your book, “the key to rondo” and i have found it OUTSTANDING! i love it how there is an unexpected ending where heaps of knots are tied. i really enjoy reading and i am not a big fan of movies. But after reading your book, my thoughts changed. I really think you should make it a movie. It would be so great and would catch the eye of many people. it may even encourage children/adults to read your books. “the key to rondo” was a fantastic book, and i think it will make a fantastic movie. Please consider this.

OMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!Your Deltora Quest books are the absoulte BEST books I have EVER read in my ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!!I have read every single one and even a bit of the extra ones like the Deltora Book of Monsters.I was sooooooo sad when I finished reading the last book and I just wanted to keep on reading and reading and reading like FOREVER!!!I am truly your #1 fan, no matter what ANYONE else says.And when I heard that your books were being made into a t.v series I was sooooooooooo sad because it was being aired in Japan and NOT Canada where I live.I mean I was wishing SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO badly that some producer would make it into a T.V show and then I fould out that it was in Japan and I was soooooo upset!!!Anyway, I LOVED how the book ended when Jasmine and Lief got maried and they had their kids Anna, Jarred, and Endon.And also what I’m REALLY good at is figuring out the mysteries and puzzles before it tells me in the book.Because before in the last book, Deltora Dragons, The Sister of The South, I figured out who the guardian was even before the book told me, and I was right, it was Paff.And I just guessed that because no one liked her and no one trusted her and she was new too.And I remember all the characters by heart too. Theres Lief, Barda, Jasmine, The Shadow Lord, King Endon,Queen Sharn, Prince Endon, Prince Jarred, Princess Anna, Jarred, Anna, Joseph, Ranesh, Marilen, Gla-thon, Steven, Nevets,Tom, Ava, Laughing Jack,Red Han, Verity, Adin, Tira,The Grey Gaurds, Prandine,Lindal,Zeean,Doom, Ailsa, Bruna, Merin, Prin,Honey, Bella Swift, Gorl, and so on. Anyway, as you probably get now, I just want to say it one more time.I’M YOUR BIGGEST FAN EVER.#1. And also, before i STOP writing, I was wondering if you could possibly make it happen so that that those shows would be in Canada in english.PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE.I would SO LOVE that to happen. I went to Borders to buy the 9th book(which I finished an am waiting for Christmas to get the 10th book). I was completely shocked to find that the last book was the 10th book! I was completely heart broken and furious at the same time. I wanted to take advantage of this letter and ask you why you would ever want to end such a wonderful series so soon and if you could find some way to please continue what you have started. I have some wonderful ideas, but I am afraid that I can not write them down until you reply. Please, think about it.

could you please, please, please, please get the D.Q. books into a movie because i enjoyed reading them so much and you’ve been a real big inspiration to me because i like to read and write a lot.
I found them so great and was really sad when the series ended but it was great. I’m in grade six and
i finished the whole first and second series in about a week and i read tales of deltora in 3 hours. Maybe you should write more books like about lief and jasmine’s kids

i isn’t very good because i did it with a peac course and i had like the longest story and i had to rush the ending and do it at like one in the morning it’s called the tales of halream.
here the first chapter:

Chapter One: the Water Bird
Caspian readied his bow. He was sixteen with short brown hair and he was of tall built. They ,he and his twenty three year old foster brother Rurik , were hunting a savage beast of a wolf that had attacked their family’s farm twice and had escaped dragging away a dead ram. It was of monstrous proportions and had survived with three arrows in its back.
Caspian and Rurik had tracked the wolf from the farm all the way to the edge of Deadwood forest. It was late afternoon in the forest. Caspian and Rurik aimed at the wolf ready to strike.
”Ah it’s a Mountain wolf. No wonder it’s so big. I didn’t notice its nose horn.” noted Caspian. Rurik answered silently. Suddenly a shadow covered the sun and a violent whirlwind almost like wing beats caused a commotion and the wolf disappeared into the undergrowth. The shadow disappeared and the light returned.
“Come. We must follow that beast”, persuaded Rurik. “No. We can wait with that. I want to see what caused that commotion. I also saw a large green … thing in the sky hurtling over there.”
And as if in response to Caspian’s words a harsh cry of a water bird came, then a soft thump.
“Well maybe we could see what that was, “suggested Rurik.
They quickly trudged to the side of the lake where they saw it, a large white heron. This was odd because herons were not native to west Halream. Its wings were damaged and many feathers were missing. Caspian, being fond of birds, approached it to check if it was alive. Its heart was beating slowly.
He got Rurik to get him the towel in his pack from where he dropped it when he spied the heron. He wrapped it in the towel and it let off a soft croon. But just when they had let their guard down, there was a rustle in the bushes. Immediately Caspian and Rurik grabbed their swords and eyed the undergrowth. It rustled again and out stepped the wolf.
Hackles raised, jaws dripping, the wolf stalked towards the group. The men readied themselves. The savage brute howled and leaped at Rurik who blocked the attack with a slash of his sword at its face.
It yelped and fell on the ground but got up quickly, eyes wild, and leaped again at Rurik, though this time he was not fast enough to block the attack. The mountain wolf gave him a savage bite to his ribs. A soft crack resounded and Rurik screamed in pain.
“No!” shouted Caspian.
The wolf turned to face him but before it could attack ,a light shone in the sky and the towel that was wrapped around the Heron fell to the ground near by.
Caspian looked up in surprise as a brilliant green dragon of immense size bit the wolf around the stomach and flung it into the lake. With an enormous splash the wolf fell into the water to surface and be ripped in half by the dragon.
He ran to Rurik’s side and wept until The dragon swooped down to face him.
Caspian stared in awe at the magnificent creature.
“It’s rude to stare you know.” said a gentle female voice.
“Who is that.” He questioned. The voice spoke again.
“My name is Emerald”, it said “I am a dragon.”
“Why did you do it” the young man questioned.
“All I did was repay you for what you did for me. Now come.”
i plan to do a different story but with the same characters and in a different place.

I was wondering if you are going to make the “Deltora Quest”,”Deltora Shadowlands”,”Dragons of Deltora” into movies for each book?I think your books are the best in the world!One reason I like your books so much is because you make up your own puzzles and monsters.I was also wondering if you are going to make more books.If you do make more books continuing Deltora Quest I was thinking of calling them “Monsters of Deltora” where Lief,Barda,and Jasmine have to find a way to kill a ultimate monster(what ever it is).I was also thinking of calling it “Mysteries of Deltora” where Lief,Barda,and Jasmine have to find the bigest mysterie in Deltora(what ever it is.)

My name is Kate and I love your children fantasy books, particularly Deltora Quest and Rowan of Rin. I’m 14 now but first read Deltora Quest when I was 10 and I still love the story even though I’v read all three Deltora Quest series about 10 times! 😛
I have also recently read your new book The Key To Rondo, it made me so happy that you were writing more fantasy books because after Deltora Quest and Rowan of Rin I just couldn’t get enough of your great writing!
I think Deltora Quest, Rowan of Rin and The Key to Rondo would be fantastic films and I wish they would be made into movies because they are just soooooo good!
Since I first read Deltora Quest I have tried to get everyone I know to read it too because it is SO GOOD! If your books were made into movies everyone would read them and then they could enjoy reading as much as I do.

No no no my bad i thought that box said personal info haha now i look like a fool… any way if this rumour is true that there is a deltora quest movie i would love to know where the audition is and when for the role of Lief as i read the books i always pictured me playing Lief if a movie came out he is my favourite character and i am a pretty good actor. Hi Emily! I am one of your biggest fans and I just finished reading the last book of Deltora Quest 3 and I love them… Infact the Deltora books were one of the first books I ever read. Even though I know the DQ books are finished, I was hoping that you might start another one about Lief, Barda and Jasmines children. This may sound abit extream but it’s only because I feel that I can relate to Jasmine alot and the feeling of having someone so much like me is really cool! My mum keeps saying that I should read the books over again but I just can’t. I’ve even started to write my own little part of the story. I would really like it if Deltora Quest became a movie and I starred as Jasmine!!! Well thank you for inspiring me. I hope you read this and maybe agree to write some more DQ books or even make a movie! P.s. If you do make a movie you should get Peter Jackson to Direct and get him to cast me as Jasmine! My name is Shaun Dillon and I am almost 13, I’ll be 13 on the 3rd of August.
I just loved the whole of the Deltora Quest series.
I only just got the books at the start of April and I finished them 3 days ago.
I’ve also read Rowan of Rin and the rest of them.
Can you advise me on another book I could read please.
Can you please make some competions for Deltora Quest if you don’t already have some.
Can you please teach me to write exciting books and make a Deltora Quest series 4 where Leif, Barda, Jasmine all go out of the boundries of Deltora in search of a land to send the Shadowlord to in exile to free their land.
