Gail Carson Levine Interview

EclipseMagazine.com – News
In interview with Gail Carson Levine, author of Ella Enchanted, which covers both the book and the movie. I always like to read about how people become authors, the process of their writing, and the glimpses into her input on the movie are also fascinating.

  1. Hey I really like your books and was hoping for, as everyone else is, a The Two Prinsesses of Bamarre movie. It would be cool to be in a movie like this! So is there a movie? DO you need actresses/actors?

  3. I was wondering if the Two Princesses of Bamarre is or will be a movie. I have been searching the internet for the past two days trying to find it, but none of the resources I’ve found are reliable. If I could get the straight answer, that would be spectacular!!!
    Thanks!!

  4. Dear Ms. Levine,
In regards to my favorite books, Ella Enchanted and The Two Princesses of Bamarre, I would like to say thank you for writing such inspirational books. When I was younger they taught me that I could do anything I wanted to. However, I was highly disappointed by what the film agency did to Ella Enchanted. The book was wonderful and the film company added things that were untrue to the story and took away some of my favorite parts. I still love your writings and would hate to see another classic turned into the media’s leftovers. Thank you for your time…or your email reader’s time…I love your work and hope that this upcoming movie will not disappoint all other young girls who love your imagination so much. Thank you, have a good evening, and good luck with this upcoming project.
    Sincerely,
    Amy

  5. Hi,
Hour books are awesome! I just finished FAIREST and I loved it. It is great that you can relate to so many kids I know by writing a story about girls just like them. I was reading the comments above and wondered if there was a movie put out like three years ago? If so that would be awesome and I’m sure everyone loved it!
I am doing a report in school and I needed to write you a letter about your work and I wonderd if it was possible to have your home or publishers address because I don’t think my teacher would acept an e-mail. Being a young writer I would love to hear from you and even if you can’t give your address out it would be great to talk to such an amazing person as you!
    Sincerly,
    Glow*(as my friends call me)

Your books are very inspirational and great. I’m doing a bibliography on you and I was wondering if you had time, could you answer the following questions for me:
    1. In what ways was your life remarkable and admirable?
    2. Did you have any negative traits/characteristics or detrimental events?
    4. What was the most influential events or people shaping the way you lived?
    5. Which quality/trait proved most troubling or difficult?
    6. Which quality/trait was most beneficial?
    7. Did you make any major mistakes or bad decisions? If so, please tell me?
    Thank you.

  8. Dear Mrs. Levine,
Although I was 23 years old when first I read your book Ella Enchanted, I was so much swept away by its magic that I coulldn’t stop reading until I finished it. Your books are brilliant, full of magic, humour and fantacy that is so vivid that whilst reading I felt as if I was in the story as well, following the steps of the heroine.
Dear Mrs Levine, after reading your books, I had a great wish to tell other people what a great writer you are and if you will ever concider having your books translated into Polish, Russian, Estonian or German, I will be more than happy to do that for you. Russian and Polish are my mother tongues and I speak and write fluently in German and Estonian. I love your books and it will be my biggest pleasure to translate them into any of these languages so that even more children (and adults) could enjoy reading them!
With lots of love and appreciation, Mrs. L.Sumara

Thank you for all of your help! You have more impact over young lives and you might realize. God Bless!

  10. Dear Mrs. Levine,
I have to one of your biggest fans! I have read all of your books except for Dave at night, The Princess test, and Fairest. My sister has also read the Princess tales and thinks that they are way better than the originals. Right now, I am trying to write my own books, I have already written one and working on two more! I am also doing a research paper class and was wondering if you would let me do an interview via e-mail? If you can that would be great!!!! I would also love to see The two Princesses of Bammarre made into a movie, if its being turned into a movie, let me know!
    Your biggest fan in houston,
    Claire
