“In 1977, only 54% of Britons enjoyed a good book, while in 2002 the figure had risen to 65% for Britain and 67% for Scotland.” The article goes on to say that in Britain books and reading are considered sexy and that it is in part due to the national reading program, The Big Read, and partly to Harry Potter.

Waking Brain Cells 
I think for teenagers books may be coming back because the weather outside is horrible and the TV is even more so.
Also in my school (im 15) we are made to read books now… i dont think that used to happen so much i live in scotland and i took english as Intermediate 2 and we had to read three books in 3 weeks, writing a review at the end.
I like to read and it really helps widen the vocab’
