  1. This was a real surprise. My first thought was I never got to tell her how much I love her art. She was one of those people who one day I would sit down and tell her how much her art means to me. I got interested in children’s books when I had my first child. Many of her books are my chosen favorites. One in particular I love is the one about the mom giving up smoking and the little girl giving up her blankie. Posted on my board where I see it every time I leave my room is a self-portrait greeting card of her sitting at a desk/table with all her inspirations around her and her cat. There is a lesson for me in her passing. I will look at the greeting card a little longer next time. In my world she was the best and will be missed.

  2. As a new teacher in the seventies, the school librarian handed me several books to read to my children. I fell in love with Magic in the Mist by Kimmel because of Ms. Hyman’s illustrations. After that, I made sure that my classroom was filled with the books she illustrated. I even used just a picture from her books for creative writing. The literary world has lost a great talent.

  3. Does anyone know where I could get any more of her wonderful art in the form of greeting cards ? I used to buy them to give away, and now I am so sorry I did not save an extra copy of each card of hers that I purchased for myself !
