The release date for the movie version of the beloved book, Wonder, has pushed back to November 17th, placing it firmly in the holiday season. Julia Roberts has been cast as the mother along with Mandy Patinkin and Owen Wilson adding to the star level.

Deadline Hollywood has the news that YA author, Brandon Sanderson has two film deals in the works. His series The Reckoners has been purchased by 20th Century Fox. The deal includes the first two books in the trilogy, Steelheart and Firefight.

My heart just soared! The Hollywood Reporter has the news that The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie will be made into a film. Even better, Alexie himself will be adapting the screenplay.

Hugh Jackman will be playing a supporting role and serve as a producer. Temple Hill, who also produced The Fault in Our Stars will be producing as well.

Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, who brought us the film versions of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, will return with a film of Mortal Engines, based on the books by Philip Reeve.

Fox acquired film rights for Becky Albertalli’s YA novel last October and will work with Temple Hill, a production company that has been involved in very successful adaptations of teen novels including “The Fault in Our Stars.”

There is now news from Variety that Greg Berlanti is being considered for director. He is known as both a showrunner and the director of “Life As We Know It.” He has also produced and written.

It’s beautiful to see an LGBT title being adapted into a film.
