Sam is a teenage girl living in an alcoholic household.  She can’t have friends over for sleep overs, has to hide her father’s drinking from the neighbors, and finds herself getting angrier and angrier.  To relieve some of the pressure, she picks a nice looking older teen to send a note to about her situation.  But the note doesn’t get read by the person she wants it to.  Instead she finds herself not getting sympathy, but getting tough love.  Sam keeps on writing, intrigued by the person writing her back.  As her father’s drinking becomes worse, Sam finds that she can no longer help him by hiding it. 

Friend, author of Perfect, has done it again.  She has created a well-written, accessible book about a real teen girl who has to make heart-rending decisions that not only affect her but her entire family.  The book is a quick read that is sure to be popular with teen girls looking for problem novels.  But they will discover that some problem novels, like this one, are the best of the bunch.

  5. I love this book it’s two thumbs up for me and i like never put it down i probably read it about a thousand times…I hope she makes more books because i really love them….

  9. okayyy,im confused is Lush the second book after Perfect or is Perfect the second? or is this the first and there is no second? i sure hope there is another ’cause this book was AWESOME! anyway, someone pleeease explain!

  10. AWSOME!!!!!!!!!! I could read it over and over and over. It was SO good I read it in less than 24 hrs! and thats surprising for me!! My sisters name is sam, 2!

  13. heyy omgggg i had this book and i was obsessed howevrr… i had 5 pages left and i just lost my book… somebody plz tell me somewhat about the ending and number of pages in the book!!!! oo and btw britanica, A.J.K. is Alexander Jessup “jessie” kaufman aka the shelving guy from the library.

  15. i have this book its really good its strong but good i also have the book perfect i really liked that one .i think “Friend” is a great author she confronts teen grls with the reality of the problems that surround us (even if we dont always no it.)

  18. um…i luved this book…Corey Samantha’s brother is luke…and i need to know th parents’ names and green cap boys’ name….please help me,….i am doing a book report…and i returned the book to the library already PLZZZ its due tomaroo!!!!!! please!!!

  19. ok this book and all of Natasha Friend’s books are so cliche and dull. There is no character development whatsoever. In my head (and most people @ my school) sam and isabel are the same person. If your going through something like this its OK but other than that its a waste of time.

  22. I think this book is one of the greatest books I have read. I was really into it. I could not put it down. I’m so glad that I found this book!!!<3
